Kool Gear Clothing

do name-brand sports gear really help?

For example, do UnderArmour Heat-gear or Nike Dry Fit Pro shirts really help when it comes to workouts? Why are there huge gaps between these products anyways? I mean, some dry fit shirts cost $30 while some costs $60?? so would it be worth it to buy these $60 shirts?

  1. no not really unless ur like a brand-fanatic.
  2. as an athlete i understand ur frustration.....but personally i dont think that there is a noticable difference....i mean i usually buy generic equipment just because its cheaper n its worked just fine for me so far n ive been in sports or 8 years.....so its just preference they pretty much work the same but its just whether they fit different or something like that
  3. okay it really depends on who you are if you start thinking so if you don't then its just one of those things you will have to try.
  4. DH, I believe a GREAT deal of it is simply brand recognition and advertising. It's the old "So and so is a great athlete, and really, really cool.....and LOOK! He/She wears Undrearmour, or Nike or Reebok. so if you want to be cool and perform at YOUR best, (like so and so does!!!) you NEED to wear what so and so wears" or eat what they eat, drink what they drink shop where they shop, etc.. This is my point--go to any sporting event, concert, or whatever, and you will see people walking around in UA stuff, RBK stuff, yada yada. Do you think that they are ready to spring into their workout or have just retired from their workout? No, of course not...but their fave athlete wears that stuff...SOOOOOOOOOOOO.........and on and on. Sometimes it is simply a matter of advertising a "healthy, athletic" lifestyle, trying to look cool, etc.. I will never be convinced that putting on UA shirt and shorts will make me a better athlete than the grey t-shirt and shorts that I wear. It just does NOT matter. It's like the old joke about racing stripes on your muscle car adding at least 20 horsepower!! Not to mention, my t-shirt and shorts probably cost about 1/3 that of the UA stuff, which leads to the price issue. It's the same old "you can have the same thing, the same materials, only cheaper" thing. When you have the money, you buy a T-Bone. When you don't, you buy hamburger. Bigger names fetch a bigger price. The one area that this in not always the case, though, is shoes. It ALWAYS pays to buy a reputable brand of shoes. However, as far as workout clothing, it's simply a matter of how much do you want to spend, and do you want a swoosh on your chest or a Champion emblem.....or no emblem at all. Just my opinion.....!
