Whats best for sports cars and fuel economy big or small 1st through 5th gear?

  1. HOLDENS ARE BETTER THAN FORDS =] -L O L -
  2. When you drive a sports car, fuel economy should not be top priority. The "fun factor" is priority otherwise you should get an econo box. I drive a Porsche Turbo and on average it get better fuel economy than say a Ferrari, Lambo, Aston, etc. But Vetts do well also in terms of fuel usage. But driving my TT to conserve fuel is like participating in a parade. Driving like a mad man is fun but you can pretty much watch the fuel tank gauge drop like a rock.
  3. Not starting the car followed by not pushing the gas pedal. Most cars hanging around 2200 RPM reguardless of the gear gives the best economy. Higher gear luggs the engine resulting in lost power (gas waste). Lower gear over revs the engine wasting gas. The gear does not pick the job. What you are trying to do with the car decides what gear you are in. However all said and done in a perfect world, 5th gear will always give the best economy until you get the speeding ticket for doing 50 MPH in a school zone.
  4. The older mustangs were great.
