Why do rap artists think wearing sports gear and lots of blingy jewellery is original...?
...when Jimmy Saville was doing it 30 years ago?! Chuck Norris - hmm what an original name? HNIC - the dictionary is full of words that people have been using for centuries. Some of them don't get used very often these days, such as "trebuchet", it does not mean they may never be used again, surely? I just find it quite amusing that the precursor of rap fashion is an eccentric white-haired English bachelor. My point Chuck is that fashion is silly. See my comment above. Comparing Jimmy Saville and rap artists is kind of surreal, that's my point. It's meant to be an ironic observation. You are right of course about music always being based on previous styles, but actually I'm not really on about music. Perhaps I should have used the word "cool" rather than "original". My mistake. Aaaaarrgghhhh! Can a smart but dumb person not have a little fun sometimes? *sobs* Cool is indeed subjective, and that's prpbably why I chose not to use it, as I don't really like the word, and never use it myself. Although if I had I would have been using the language of the rap artists themselves. Unlike "bling" apparently, now it's 2008. Shall I just kill myself now?

- It's not.
- who still says bling or any form of that word? welcome to 2008 stick to your 40-acre land and leave rap to the listeners http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Avp7E79BMHzAhLpuecbQbXnsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20080511000427AAMM59k
- i dont think they think its "original." im pretty sure they just think its cool.
- how can they think it's original when everytime you see a rap video, they are ALL doing it? Also, the fancy cars/rims, and the bikini clad girls in hottubs seem to appear in every video also... (mostly every "southern" rap video, that is)
- who gives a sh*t about rap so gay
- My good Lady P i was just having afternoon Tea with Sir Jimmy and he has sent this reply....Now then..now then..my Friend Dave said he could fix it for me to answer this one....did you know...that i...yes i have been wearing the...Bling as you say..for many many years...now then...all theses rap stars need fixing.....and I'm going to fix it for them to look like yours truly ..urhhhhhh hows about that then. and ill fix Chuck at the same time....?
- i doubt they think its ORIGINAL... Its just a trendy style they all like to wear. wats wrong with that you hater???
- I thought the sports wear thing went out in like 2003.. Maybe I'm wrong.
- Tacky and pathetic.

- Ive always felt that the " C " is silent in such "artistes" As for the originality, no they are just following a trend, that sums them up just as readily as the old adage, about the size of a man's member inversely proportional to the size of their car...... I mean, do they have to flaunt their golden jewellery , the size of their Hummers, and their Hoes.... To be honest Id rather be more impressed if they invested their bling in a wise pension scheme and showed their mothers in the videos, make them a nice meal......
- they think by changing up the way that they wear certain things makes them original
- Jimmy Saville was quite the trend setter. He was our modern haute coutre muse and now we need another to lead the way.. when will that be though?
