how do i change a gear box on an s reg renault laguna rt diesel turbo sports?

The gear box is making an awful sound like scraping metal in 1st 2nd and 3rd, it jumps into neutral from 3rd and 5th is my gear box stuffed?

1. yes it sounds like the box has gone. Its not to bad to change if you have mechanical knowledge and alot of tools
2. I started out years ago doin my own maintenance on cars cos i couldnt or didnt want to pay garage fees,i would look at the part that needed taking off,ie gearbox, engine etc and put all parts in a line as not to forget how they went back,most times you find a quicker way or easier way when putting back together,use proper axle stands and trolley jack,good luck
