How to whiten silk-screen white t-shirts that are dingy & stained?

I'm talking your average cotton or cotton/poly t-shirt that has some design on it (e.g., and I (heart) NY shirt). How can I get these to look better without fading the design? I'm afraid bleach would fade designs too much. Thanks in advance for any advice!!! And my t-shirts thank you :)

1. Add a half cup of automatic dishwashing detergent to your white laundry. But use your regular laundry detergent with it.
2. dish washier detergent is form different for washing dishes So you can use a detergent that already has brightnier like foca. It has a picture of seal on it and comes in a light blue bag about 1.99 in California use some warm water. Liquid kind is safe for cotton,wool what I read on the bottle. I believe because I use for my whites now over tide
