How do I remove the yellow spots that form on t-shirts (white more than color) from sweat?
My husband and my kids are outside alot and when I do the laundry their t-shirts and even sleeveless shirts usually end up with yellow patches where the sweat used to be. I'm tired of throwing out the t-shirts and having to buy new ones. Hopefully someone has a great suggestions that works. Thanks M

- Dissolve a couple of aspirins in the washing water.
- First, the stains are caused by a chemical reaction between perspiration and the aluminum chlorhydrate in anti-perspirant. To prevent the stains in the first place, before wearing the T-shirts, lather up some Fels-Naptha soap in the armpits and launder as usual in your normal laundry detergent in cold water. Once the stains are already there, lather up the Fels-Naptha soap in the armpit and launder the white ones in bleach, a couple of drops of Mrs. Stewarts Bluing for extra whiteness, your regular detergent in a soaker load. Allow the shirts to soak for a couple of hours and check the underarms, if the stains are still there, re-apply the Fels-Naptha soap and continue soaking and reapplying until they are gone. If they are colored T-shirts, use Biz Activated Non-Chlorine Bleach instead of regular bleach and repeat the same steps.
- If you're from the Philippines, then you should be familiar with Kalamansi. Use it. Put some on wherever the yellow stains are then wash it again after. If you're not from the Philippines, maybe you can try using lemons. It may have the same effect. I haven't tried it with that though.
- I wash my Husband´s shirt´s with the good old fashioned soap bar soap, you know the kind used for washing clothes. Soak in cold water first , rub in the soap, leave the soap on free from water , say 1/2 hr should be enough. then back to the water . Now add a bit more soap and wash on a 40ºc wash. Hang outside in the sun. The sun will do the rest of the work , by bleaching the stain out the natural way. Always works for me
- If they are white shirts... then wash them just like normal, put a little bleach in the water... and when it's done, hang outside in the sunshine. That's what I do and it works real well.
- You can soak them in white vinegar before washing, it helps break down the sweat and deodorant in the fabric.
- Dishwasher detergent. You won't believe it, but it works.
- What I did to my brothers shirts- I brought them to my house and set up the laundry just like normal. But I pretreated them with oxi clean and put bleach with the white t-shirts. I use color safe bleach with the colored t-shirts. It worked. I would rewash them if it didn't all come out.
