At what age do boys start to wear size 14/16 T-shirts?

I know every child is different and blah blah, but I need to buy a couple T-shirts for my fiance's nephew who I haven't met. He is 10, and I don't think he is particularly fat/thin/short/tall. I picked up 3 regular cotton T-shirts today in the Boys department that were size 14/16. If they are too big, that's ok, but I don't want them to be too small. Any info would be greatly appreciated!!!

1. My son is 10 also and he wears a size 12/14 in shirts, so they won't be too small, maybe a little big but they will shrink in the wash, some brands run smaller too.
