  1. No. They'll let you keep your uniforms and stuff that comprises your basic clothing issue.
  2. Sure yuou can take an Abrams tank home if you like but don't forget the ammunition. The killing does not have to stop after Iraq. You can continue to kill all the insurgents you like...called illegal aliens when you return to the US. Bush will be waiting to give you a medal of honor in the end.
  3. oh yeah you can keep your m16.....just make sure you don't let the kids play with it.
  4. Heh, no. You'll pretty much walk out with the uniforms and boots on your back. Everything else you sign for, and if you want to keep it, well, you're going to have to save about $5,000, because that's what it'll all cost you to keep it.
  5. Nope, it stays in Iraq and goes to the next soldier who replaces you. Many a soldier has had an inclination to take specialty items from the war zone only to find out thems Ar. 15 words, boy! In other words they thought that it would be cool to have a camouflaged parachute or poncho liner on their bed at college and got caught trying to bring home or send home a parachute or poncho liner from Vietnam and ended up getting Article 15'd over it. I even knew a soldier who tried to ship an AK AK (zip gun) (AK-47-Russian zipper gun) in pieces in his crates, as he was shipping home and the MP caught up with him on his day of departure and asked him to "walk and talk" at the airport and then put him in their jeep and kept him "in-country" another 3 months to get it all sorted out, he lost 2 pay grades as well as 9 months of pay for his little "indiscretion". So, if'n you want to, go right ahead and try!
  6. They keep your weapons....unless like 'someone I know' accidently had a .45 pistol fall into his seabag. Hey..it happens!
  7. If you want 20 yrs at hard labor. No.
  8. Clothing only. If you fail to turn anything else in, it comes out of your pay.If you cannot account for weapons , you'll be subjct to arrest.
  9. Here's the deal . Yes , you'll have to turn in 'equipment' but not your uniforms . BUT , occassionally you'll find or acquire duplicate equipment like ammo belts and such . So yes you'll be responsible for turning in what you've been 'issued' , you're not responsible for turning in what you acquired , bought or found . But NEVER weapons !!
  10. hehehe i was in for 5 years and i "aquired" 4 duffelbags full of crap which i sold to a military surplus store when i got out. or atleast the crap i didnt want.
  11. no you dont get to keep that stuff. the only thing you get to keep is the things that touch your body ( your skin ) on a day to day basis., like your uniform, your boots, your hat, ect ...
  12. no way the army need the gear.the cost for the new is so high to buy.
  13. you will find out the army doesn't give you nothing.all the gear you will use has a serial #.and will have to be turned back in.believe me you will be tired of it by the time you get out. but you can pick up a piece here and there, but be careful everything has a serial#,and they have to account for it.
