What is so cool about the horde mode of Gears of war 2?

What is so cool about it that everyone is talking about? hasn't it been done before and doesn't it look too repetitive fighting the same guys over and over again but just a bit stronger? I want to know because there is too much hype on it, is it good or bad?

  1. Personally, I hate Gears of War, not for the game but because there is too much hype and its "hardcore fans" treat it like some sort of sacred artifact. However, I do like the look of horde. Its the one time where a group of friends can play well together and it always feels cool blasting away hundreds of enemies, I havent played it yet but i expect its something me and my mates will be playing for a long time.
  2. well first of all i would like to say ^ guy is a moron. and second of all gears of war is the best game because of its kick ass gameplay, kick ass graphics, and a gun that has a friggin chainsaw bayonet. and with the horde its more like a skill test. enemies do get harder and harder but there is also a variety of enemies. like on wave one u will have some locust, and wave 2 some tickers. on the fifth or sixth round u have boomers and maulers, maulers are boomers with a ball and chain, and have a shield. and some other enemies. but i think its mostly about teamwork and seeing how far u get. it should be good.
  3. well as you may recall the final boss in the 1st game was General Raam. Nasty. But in this game Its a new General, thinnes but who has a staff with two huge chainsaws at either end and he ability to chop a tank in half :O as you see at the end of act one of 6. The game is huge, bigger than one and it happens six months after the first game when you find out the bomb failed and only killed a few of the locusts.
  4. i think i can give you a good, unbiased answer. i am not a hardcore gears fan. i thought the first one had a great story but i strongly hated the multiplayer. with that said, horde is sh*t!!! it's fun because you and 4 buddies (or strangers) can pick a map and try to survive wave after wave after random enemies. each wave gets harder, you get different point amounts for the type of enemy killed and how you killed them. players can revive one another, really focus on teamwork, and try to create new high scores. it's kinda like terrorists hunts in Rainbow Six & GRAW (i forget what they call it) except it has a twist and it's better. fan or no fan, i think any and everyone would the horde game mode.
  5. Basically Horde mode is where you and 4 other players battle and fight together to outlast 50 waves of increasingly difficult Locusts. Things begin simply enough, as you and your comrades easily tear through the early levels. Complete the 10th level, however things become maddening. In levels 11-20, the Locusts gain double health. For 21-30, they receive double health and double accuracy. If you manage to survive that long, the enemies in levels 31-40 have that, as well as double damage. Blast your way to the final 10 stages, if you dare, and they gain 2.5 times everything. See if you can last through all of that carnage. In a sense Horde mode is great because you're playin with people who are going to be on edge and want to get as far as they can. It'll keep you on the edge of your seat, and sweaty palms lead to controllers flying or slipping haha. The only thing bad about it is that it takes a lot of skill to get past stages 16 and up since things only get harder from there. That and you're fighting the same Locusts over and over again, except that the attack patterns will be different. i.e. one stage they might all rush at you and another they might take cover and take you and your team down one by one.
