On Sims 2, how do you get cool clothes, makeup, and hairstyles?

I've seen people have really cool clothes, hairstyles, and makeup on their sims, i'm curious of how they get them. Also i've seen people make music videos and have the exact same clothes that the singer wears in the actual video, how do they get them??

1. you can download or buy them from the sims website after you've registered your game
2. You have to download them, which is safe with only certain web sites. You first have to log-in to thesims2.com to download things from there, and i would start there since it's the most simple to download from. Then you could move on to sites like modthesims2.com and stuff like that, but only the safe and free ones of course. (=
