What's wrong with this transfer paper (for t shirts)?

I'm making a present for a friend, and drew a picture in Photoshop. When I print the picture on the transfer paper, it's really wet and never dries. Even overnight. And the ink looks all blotchy. What could I be doing wrong? I'm supposed to give this to them in about a week! :(

  1. My best guess is the transfer paper has only one "right side" and you printed on the other side. I haven't used transfer paper, but I've had this same experience with shrink plastic; it made a big mess. Use a new sheet of transfer paper and try printing on the other side. (And check the printer before you use it to be sure the ink didn't smear inside it too.) My only other suggestion is to try a different kind of transfer paper. I used to work at a fabric store and I remember there being several different kinds there. Maybe you could do some research online about the different kinds first to find the one that will work best for what you're doing. Good luck. And congratulations on your Photoshop skills; I wish I had those!
  2. You are suppose to lay it on the shirt and then iron it. Read the directions on the package.
